Feed-in Tariff statement and review - our take on it all. With so many calls coming in to us about financial concerns with renewable energy technologies and Feed in Tariffs, we felt moved to make our own investigation and report the results. Whilst we normally approach these topics from an environmental perspective first, a sound financial overview of any proposed sustainable energy system cannot be ignored. In response to the announcement that the Feed in Tariff for photovoltaics is proposed to be reduced by more than half, we decided to take a look at the merits of investing in photovoltaics versus putting your money in a savings account. Please take a look at our guide to what the changes mean. Remember that this is only a guide based on assumptions and should not be the sole basis for any major financial decisions you may make. Eco Centre Wales' response to the FIT changes announced October 31 2011 Click here to download a spreadsheet (XLS format) to carry out your own forecasts. Hopefully it is self-explanatory. You can put your own figures in the blue cells. This is presented as is, we use it for our own calculations subject to some conditions. Contact our renewable energy advice team for more information.
Renewable energy has always been at the forefront of the work and the aims of the ECO Centre. Along with CAT, we have been actively promoting renewable energy in Wales longer than any other organisation. This hasn't always been easy or a popular subject, but through thick and thin staff and trustees have been able to advise about and demonstrate renewable energy technologies. We have run many projects over the years and continue to do so now. The projects have varied in complexity and scope but in each case they always seek to ensure that new renewable energy installations take place. This may be at the domestic or farm scale or the community scale. The reports of two recent projects carried out in Pembrokeshire can be downloaded from our downloads section. Our current project is the People's Power Station, a community energy project that aims to democratise renewable energy generation in Wales. Also in the section you access our renowned renewable energy factsheets. These factsheets cover the current common technologies available and have been very well received at all levels. They are also available on this site in Welsh, should you require them. Please select from the language bar at the top right the page.
